Have you ever had a moment where you faced your own mortality?
I have...and it shook me to my core.
Every fiber of my being was screaming I am not ready for this yet!
Please, oh please, just let me have one more day.
It’s amazing all the things you think about in those split seconds.
You think about your family, your friends, your loved ones you lost contact with and maybe those you wish you would have spent more time with.
You think about what you have accomplished and how people will remember you.
You don’t think about your job or your to-do list.
You don’t worry if you took the garbage out or if your dry-cleaning was picked up.
Because it just doesn’t matter in the long run.
We all know that our time is limited. Death is a natural part of life and we all have to face it at one time or another.
So what do you do with your days?
Here are 5 Important Ways to Make Each Day Precious.
Spend Time Building Relationships. You can’t leave with much in this life but you can form relationships that even death can’t sever. Share your love and receive it. In the end that is what makes a life fulfilling.
Find your Passion. Leave your unique mark on this world as only you can by following your passion. You have a unique set of gifts to give so use them now and do something you are proud to leave the world with.
Rid Yourself of Regrets. Fix a wrong you have done in your life. Say you are sorry if you have hurt someone. Don’t wait for your death bed hoping for the chance to reconcile with a friend or family member. Take the time now while you can.
Choose to Be Happy. Yes, sometimes it has to be a choice that you make. Circumstances in your life can be out of your control but you can choose to be happy and find the good in the world.
Sometimes finding happiness is simply found in recognizing what you have to be grateful for. Write down 3 things you are grateful for each night. Studies have found that this simple exercise can increase your happiness dramatically after only three days!
Live Life. Maybe more than anything else choose to live your life. Live a life you love. A life you are proud of. Don’t let yourself get caught in the rat race of day-to-day life. Stop and remember what makes you happy, what brings you meaning, what you truly care about.
No matter what your circumstances are, choose this day to start living a life you love. Set meaningful goals. Live your life in order to accomplish them.
Don't wait one more day to put off living a life that is meaningful to you. You never know which day will be your last. Live the best life you can today.
